“The past
is in the past”
some say—
but what if it’s not?

What if it’s not
so distant
and inaccessible
as we thought?

How could we be
infinite possibility
birthed from the womb
then mysteriously
slowly
reduced
to a thin line
of choices made
one by one
becoming hard
and two-dimensional?

“The only way to go
is forward”
some say—
but what if it’s not?

A dance would be
ridiculous and stifled
if it only had one direction
to work with,
true?

Barreling straight forward
with no concept
of the freedom
relaxed and waiting
on our every side?

What if we can move
in all directions
expanding outward
from the big bang
of our existence?

What if we can
still touch
the first breath
of that
primordial
sound?

“Time is what heals
all wounds”
some say—
but what if it doesn’t?

Your perceptions
formed to daggers
against yourself
and those
who have hurt you—
weapons
of your own
unconscious
sculpting.

What if in a moment
your awareness
could turn to water
all-encompassing
and surround
that hardened line
you thought was you
and cradle its
pointed
glinting
edges?

(For not even
the sharpest knife
can cut
the ocean.)

“The past is dead
and gone”
some say—
but what if it’s not?

I know we try
to save ourselves
from grief
by segmenting
and shutting
things
out—
but at what
cost?

Because if your past
is dead
how could you ever
be fully alive?

What if the structures
of your actions
and the bones
of what was
still exist,
but the quality
remains
endlessly
malleable?

The context
shiftable?

The frequency
transmutable?

Then, now, soon
past, present, future
all as dynamic
as you are
right now
able to be healed
in the light
of your gentle
attention
when you recognize
your essence is made
to hold
and see
and fill it all.

“The future
will never be here”
some say—
but what if it is?

The pulse
present
and steady
beating out
from the center
of a vast tapestry
continually woven
and rewoven
around you
by who you are
and choose to be
in each instant
inextricable
interconnected.

What if all of you
lives
and breathes
and cries
and laughs
forever rippling
throughout time?

And perhaps
in opening yourself
to these words
and trying on
these questions—
that dusty
hardened line
of the past
might just shake off
its untruths
its regrets
its rigidity
and naturally
begin to sway
and stretch
just as far forward
as it does backwards.

Ringing out
tones
harmonic
entraining
to oneness
reverberating
never-ending
patterns of
sacred geometry.

You,
the music
of universes
when you start
to loosen up
a little bit.
