When I think
I’m missing
you
I’m really
just
missing
me.
The me
that was
lit up
and
alive
the full
spectrum
of my Self
reflected
in the
fractals
that
glittered
like glass
around
you.
You felt
like water
and fire
and light
and air
and earth
and endless
floating
infinite
space
all
at
once.
You felt
like
breath.
Your
presence
melted
my eyes
into my
whole
being
and
everything
became
new
and fresh
and sacred.
It reached
far beyond
endorphins
oxytocin
and dopamine
the thrill
of being wanted
some adolescent
fantasy fulfilled
or desire for
human connection
nothing
so simple
as attraction
or lust—
no,
you
were
the
substance
of
all
things.
And
so
was
I.
I was
water
and fire
and light
and air
and earth
and endless
floating
infinite
space
all
at
once.
I was
breath.
And when
the absence
of you
feels
overwhelming
I remind
myself—
even though
every thought
and inclination
says
otherwise—
when I think
I’m missing
you
I’m really
just
missing
me.
I’m really
just
missing
me.
I’m really
just
missing
Me.
