Weightless Almost

with E M I L I A

Floating above
the water
pretending to be
a child of the wind.

If only I could
cuddle the stars
I wouldn’t feel
so heavy—
but I am still
dusting off
the dirt
that sticks
to my thighs
and feet.

Heart uprooted
and rooting
into dreams
threading
through
fantasy—
keep me
off the ground,
don’t let it
touch me.

The floor is lava
and I am perching
on clouds
and sun rays
weightless
almost
emptying myself
of precious things
to become precious.

Lost in riddles
and meaning
where there
is only Love
that wants
to hug me
with her oceans
and trees
and friends
and feelings.

Sink me,
cover me
in mud
and grasses—
give me rocks
to rest on
and flowers
to tend to
and fires
to warm
my chilled fingers
and toes
from exploring
the infinite.
