What the Universe Wants

The universe wants
to take its time with you
so why don’t you let it?

If it clumsily
came on to you
drunk and needy—
you wouldn’t have it.

You would want
it to hold you
and receive
your every movement
as it slows down
enough
to
feel
your
light.

So why
do you act
like you want
to get anywhere
fast?

When you drift
into the future
as if there is any
other place to be—
become present
allow its every touch
to magnify
with your attention.

Look into its eyes
and let it in.

It wants you
and it wants you
to be with it
undistracted
and fully alive.
